ICSE Class 10 Answered
How is scattering of light responsible for the twinkling of stars??
Asked by cool thomasina | 11 Dec, 2011, 10:59: PM
Expert Answer
Stars twinkle because of turbulence in the atmosphere of the Earth. As the atmosphere churns, the light from the star is refracted in different directions. This causes the star's image to change slightly in brightness and position, hence they "twinkle".
