How is an allergy to an insect bite different from a normal reaction to an insect bite

In case of an insect bite, most of the time, the stings and bites lead to mild pain or itching at the point of the bite. At the most, a reddish mild swelling would be seen which disappears after some time.

However, if a person is allergic to an insect bite, he will develop a reaction at the site of the bite that will cause pain, swelling, redness, and itching. The typical itchy red bumps might last for a couple of days. Less commonly, more severe reactions can occur. These include blistering rashes, bruises, or large areas of swelling at the bite sites.
