how does the number of individuals at each trophic level decrease ,as we go higher up a pyramid?

The numer of individuals consuming in a food chain depends on the biomass present. With less energy at higher trophic levels, there are usually fewer organisms as well. Organisms tend to be larger in size at higher trophic levels, but their smaller numbers result in less biomass
