Force of attraction between two masses m1 and m2  is given as

when distance become d/2 then new force Fnew becomes
 
begin mathsize 14px style F subscript n e w end subscript space equals space G space fraction numerator m subscript 1 space m subscript 2 over denominator open parentheses d divided by 2 close parentheses squared end fraction space equals space 4 space G space fraction numerator m subscript 1 space m subscript 2 over denominator d squared end fraction space equals space 4 space F end style
Hence when distance decreases by half , gravitational attractive force increases by a factor of 4
