How does process of pasteurization help in sterilization of food?

In pasteurization, milk is heated to a temperature of about 60oC for a period of 30 minutes and then chilled quickly. Pasteurization kills majority of bacteria present in milk, including the disease-causing germs. In this way, the process of pasteurization helps in sterilization of food.
