how does inbreeding deppression occurs and how it is overcomed plz expln with an example
Inbreeding is the mating of closely related individuals of the same species. Continuous inbreeding within a small local population for several generations leads to decreased vigour, fitness and productivity in the offspring. This is called inbreeding depression.
To overcome inbreeding depression, it is advisable to breed superior animals of ne population with the superior animals of another unrelated population but of the same breed (outcrossing).
Outcrossing is the practice of mating animals within the same breed but having no common ancestors on either side of their pedigree up to 4 to 6 generations.
