ICSE Class 9 Answered
How does Ascaris spread itself?

Expert Answer
The female Ascaris (which lives in human intestine) lays several thousands of eggs per day, which pass out along with the patient's faeces. The eggs get scattered in the soil, which ultimately reach even the vegetables and fruits that grow in the field. Children playing on the ground may get the microscopic eggs on their hands and infection can occur by eating with unwashed hands or through unwashed raw vegetables.
