Households does not spend their entire income on consumption of goods and services. People tend to save the surplus money by depositing into the bank. People who invest in productive activities borrow fund from the banks. The bank accept deposits from the people having surplus cash and advance loans to the people to invest in productive activities. Thus bank serve as a link between surplus money and people who require money.
