how did we get the relation : ms*vsquare/r=G*ms*me/rsquare? why are we appyinh that here??

for example suppose moon is revolving around an orbit,
the forces acting on it= centripetal force and gravitational attraction. the gravitational attraction force provides the centripetal force for revolution.
this equation came from this concept.
