CBSE Class 12-science Answered
how can we create net positive charge using grounding in gold leaf electroscope bringing it close to negatively charged object ?

Expert Answer
as the electroscope is brought near negatively charged object, all the positive charges in the object get attracted towards the negative charge. that means the electrons are repulsed towards the far end .now if we ground the elactroscope at the opposite end, all the negative charges ie electrons go towards earth. now if we take the object and the grounding away, there will be less no of electrons in the conductor(as few electrons have gone to earth).
so the electroscope will be positively chjarged.
