The process, by which a changing magnetic field induces current in a conductor is called electromagnetic induction.
Current can be induced in a coil either by moving it in a magnetic field or by changing the magnetic field around it.
It is convenient in most of the situtations to move the coil in a magnetic field.
To know the direction of induced current when a coil is moved in a magnetic field, we use a simple rule that is known as
Flemings Right hand rule. The statement of rhis rule is as follows:
 
Stretch the thumb, forefinger and middle finger of right hand so that they are perpendicular to each other as shown in figure.
If forefinger points in the direction of magnetic field, Thumb shows the direction of motion of conductor,
then the middle finger will show the direction of induced current.
