Hi expert...can u plz explain me,when a stationary wave is formed due to reflection.................
Query Description:

why is the phase change π(pi) and how can we find phase change mathematically???...

P.S. plz explain theoritically as well as mathematically.

thank u.

Let us understand the phenomena conceptually.

A wave traveling along the string tied at the two ends, will strike the rigid boundary at its one end and Get reflected. At the rigid end, the displacement produced is minimum and pressure is maximum. These conditions constitute the node of a stationary wave.

Also a node can be formed when a crest gets reflected and superimposes on trough. That is the two wave parts are at a phase difference of pie.
