Expert Answer
Magnetic field lines are circling around the current carrying conductor.
To get the direction of magnetic field lines that circle around current carrying conductor, we apply right hand rule.
As per right hand rule when we hold the current carrying conductor in right hand by stretching thumb,
then thumb shows the direction of current and curling of fingers shows the direction of magnetic field.
Needle of magnetic compass will align in the direction of magnetic field.
If we apply this concept, we see from list of figures, fig-(A) shows the correct direction of needle of magnetic compass
