Expert Answer
There are vast regions in the universe where thick dense clouds of gas and dust are present. These regions are known as "stellar nurseries".
Due to immense gravity, such nurseries collapse and in due course of time, they merge and form compact spherical objects known as "stars". This is how stars are formed.
A shooting star is actually a meteor or an asteroid entering the earth's atmosphere. When they enter earth, there is friction between the gases in the atmosphere and the meteor. This causes them to burn which enables us to see a bright streak of light. This phenomenon is known as a shooting star. Hence, nothing happens to us if we see a shooting star. It is just a physical phenomenon.
