Expert Answer
Governments, across Asia and Africa, realized that the policy of scientific forestry has not been able to conserve forests as its main goal has been of collecting timber rather than conserving the forests. Instead, it has given rise to various conflicts within the regions between the government and forest communities. Government, in order to conserve forests, has involved the communities residing in the forests. Dense forests, in many parts of the country, still exist because villages have been protecting them as sacred groves. Sacred groves are parts of forest which are considered sacred by the villagers and cutting of those trees is not permissible.
