He asked the reason for my absence.

He is so eager that he cannot wait to be praised.
5) Alas!What has become of our poor neighbour.(Change into Assertive sentence)
It is a pity to see what has become of our poor neighbour.
6) The villagers were warned of the flood.(Use noun form of 'warned')
The villagers had received a warning of the flood.
