The Himalayan Rivers |
The Peninsular Rivers |
The Himalayan rivers mostly originate in glaciers located in the Himalayan regions. |
These rivers mostly originate in hills or in highlands in the central, western and the southern parts of the country. |
Because these rivers originate from glaciers in snow covered mountains, they are perennial in nature. |
Because these rivers originate in hills and mountain ranges in southern, western and central parts of the country, they depend upon rainfall for their supply of water. and hence become dry during summer season. They are not perennial. |
They have large basins and large catchment areas. |
They have small basins and small catchment areas. |
