GIVE REASONS WHY COPPER IS USED TO MAKE HOT WATER TANKS AND STEEL NOT?

Answer:

Dear Shubham,

Copper does not react with hot or cold water, but iron reacts with steam to form iron (III) oxide and hydrogen gas. Although the iron does not react with hot water, it may react with atmospheric oxygen and dissolved oxygen in the presence of water to form rust (Fe2O3.xH2O). Hence, steel is not used to make hot water tanks.

Hope this helps!
