Expert Answer
Finland is known as the ‘land of Thousands of lakes’. It is because the country has innumerable lakes. It is because of geological conditions existed thousands of years earlier. Although there are no glaciers in Finland now, the effects of glaciation can be seen in the geography and lake formation in present day. Continental glaciers covered a vast majority of Finland during various stages of ICE Age. As temperature began to increase about 10,000 years ago, the glaciers began to melt filling up country’s depressions making it a land of lakes.
