  1. The northern most part of Europe beyond the Arctic Circle experiences an extremely cold climate with harsh weather. Since the region is also covered with snow throughout the year, the population density is as low as 1 person per sq. km.
  2. The Central Plains of Europe are flat fertile plains which are being drained by many rivers. This region is suitable for agricultural activities and building transport facilities due to its flat terrain. Thus, the Central Plains are densely populated.
