Give reasons for the following: The Tundra region is not fit for agriculture. Agriculture has flourished in Asia.

  1. The Tundra region lies beyond the Arctic Circle. The climate is extremely cold with long winters and scanty rainfall. Vast stretches of land in the region are covered with snow for most time of the year. Hence, this region is not fit for agriculture.
  2. Agriculture has flourished in Asia as many rivers rise in the snow capped mountains of Asia. These rivers during their course have deposited huge amounts of alluvial soil, making the plains fertile.
