Answer to your first question is stated below:

Molecular hydrides are compounds made of hydrogen and nonmetals or metalloids (semimetals).

The hydrides of MH4 type are typically gases or liquids at room temperature and thermal stability decreases down the group.

 (e.g. CH4 > SiH4 > GeH4 > SnH4 > PbH4 )

For example, CH4 is natural gas and is stable in air, while SiH4 spontaneously bursts into flames when exposed to oxygen.
