Give reason why zinc is added for galvanising process

Zinc is more reactive than iron.
In galvanisation coating of more reactive metal is done over the surface of less reactive metal.
Zinc reacts with oxygen and forms very thick layer of zinc oxide.
this oxide layer protects metals surface from corrosion.
