Oxides of highly reactive metals like potassium,sodium,calcium,magnesium and aluminium have a great affinity towards oxygen and so cannot be reduced by carbon or carbon monoxide or hydrogen.
These metals are obtained by electrolytic  reduction of fused metallics salts.
Lead and copper are obtained by the reduction of their oxides with carbon, carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
Silver is obtained by heating silver oxide above 3000C.

Why is chlorine discharged instead of hydroxyl ions(Hydroxyl ions can easily be discharged than Cl- ions according to series) ions during the elecrolysis of conc.NaCl?If you would say that its concentration is more than why hydrogen ion gets discharged of Na+ ions as they may also have a high concentration.
