Why do we connect the switch in the live wire

When we kill a switch it actually break the live wire of electric equipment. If we do not connect the switch in live wire then there will be electricity present in the equipment and it will find lower potential to flow this can have electric shock to any human . To prevent situations like this or may some time voltage become too much high and switch is connected to neutral wire then high voltage current will directly flow to the equipment and it can get damaged. That's why we connect switch in live wire. If switch is off then no current is reaching to equipment and it will remain safe to operate.
