Expert Answer
1. Transparent objects do not casts any shadow as light passes through them.
Examples: A clear empty glass, a window pane, eye lenses.
A shadow is created when an opaque object blocks light.
2. Solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes in between the Sun and the Earth and obstructs a part of the sunlight to reach the Earth.
For a solar eclipse to take place, the Sun, Moon and Earth must be aligned in a perfect or near perfect straight line. This can only happen during the new Moon phase. So a solar eclipse occurs on a new Moon.
