Differences between zygote and foetus:

Zygote

Foetus

  • Zygote is unicellular.
  • Foetus is multicellular.
  • In zygote, well-defined body are absent.
  • In foetus, well-defined body parts are present.
  • Zygote is a fertilized egg formed by the fusion of the sperm and the egg.
  • Foetus is the stage of the embryo which shows all recognizable body parts of a mature organism.  
  • The zygote divides several times to form an embryo.
  • An embryo gradually develops into a foetus.
