(i) Let A = {apples, oranges, bananas}

The universal set should be a set of elements from which the elements of set A can be chosen.

Hence, U = {Set of all fruits}

(ii) Let B = {Male students of a co-ed school}

The universal set should be a set of elements from which the elements of set B can be chosen.

Hence, U = {All the students of a co-ed school}
