For the question in factor theorem
How to assume a value for x such that f(x)=0. Is there any method other than trying out 1, -1, 2, -2 etc ?

Expert Answer
There is no other method in your syllabus, we have to assume roots to find a root of polynomial.
However we can find roots of a polynomial by using calculus, or by ploting its graph.
Which you will study in higher classes.
