1) For proper functioning of the transistor, the base-emitter junction should be forward biased and the collector-base junction should be reverse biased.
2) The working of transistor can be found in NCERT text book. Kindly refer to the textbook for the answer.
3) Yes the oscillator can be considered as a self-sustained amplifier.
