CBSE Class 12-science Answered

for a CE transistor amplifier, the audio signal voltage across the collector resistance of 2 kilo-ohms is 2 volt. suppose the current amplification factor is 100. what should be the value of Rb(resistor connected input) in series with Vbb supply of 2 volts if the dc base current has to be 10 times the signal current. also, calculate the dc drop across the collector resistance. what is the difference between dc base current and signal current?

Current at Collector due to audio signal = 2V / 2kΩ = 1 mA;
Since current gain is 100, signal current at Base input = 1 mA/100 = 10 micro ampere
If base current is 10 times signal current means, base current 100 micro amp.

By considering the Base-emitter potential drop, Rb value for 100 micro amp is given by
Rb =1.3 / (100×10-6) = 13 kΩ

DC drop at collector resistance :-
DC current at collector 100 times 100 micro amp, 10 milli amp. drop across 2 kΩ = 20V

Base current is the required bias current to keep the transistor active in absence of any signal current. This is provided by giving bias voltage to base.
Signal current is the current in the base-emitter junction due to audio signal voltage.
