Find the ratio in which the line joining (-2, 5) and (-5, -6) is divided by the line y = -3. Hence find the point of intersection.

Let the line y = -3 divides the line joining the points (-2, 5) and (-5, -6) in the ratio k:1 at point (x, y).
Since the line dividing is y=-3, therefore P will be (x, -3)
Therefore, using section formula we have
