Slope of line joining the points (3, 7) and (- 4, 8) = fraction numerator size 12px 8 size 12px space size 12px minus size 12px space size 12px 7 over denominator size 12px minus size 12px 4 size 12px space size 12px minus size 12px space size 12px 3 end fraction size 12px equals fraction numerator size 12px minus size 12px 1 over denominator size 12px 7 end fraction

Slope of line which is perpendicular to the line joining the points (3, 7) and (- 4, 8) = 7.

Equation of line passing through (5, 4) and with slope 7 is
            y - 4 = 7 (x - 5)

       y - 4 = 7x - 35

        7x - y - 31 = 0.
