Find the coordinate of the foot of the perpendicular drawn from the point (-1,-2) on the line 3x+4y=12.

Equation of perpendicular line :-  4x - 3y = k .......(1)
 
Above line passes through (-1, -2),  Hence  4(-1) - 3(-2) = k  or  k = 2 .
 
Foot of the perpendicular is obtained by solving following equations
 
3x+4y = 12
 
4x-3y = 2
 
we get answer   x = 44/25,  y = 42/25  . Hence foot of perpendicular  [ (44/25), (42/25) ]
