The area of a triangle is given by 1/2*base*height

For an isosceles right triangle the equal sides form the base and the height as they are perpendicular(the third side is the hypotenuse is equal to [102 + 102]1/2)

Thus the area is = 1/2*10*10 = 50sq cm
