Expert Answer
Let cost of the article = Rs. 100
value of the article after first discount of 16% = Rs. 100 - Rs.16 =Rs.84
if second discount is 18%, then discount amount = 84×(18/100) = Rs.15.12
value of the article after first discount of 16% = Rs. 100 - Rs.16 =Rs.84 - Rs.15.12 = Rs.68.88
net discount amount Rs.100 - Rs. 68.88 = Rs.31.12
Neet discount = 31.12 % ≈ 31 %
