# Fimd slit width

Angular spacing of central maximum in single slit pattern = 2×(λ/a) .............(1)

where λ is wavelength of light used and a is slit width.

Angular spacing of single interference fringe pattern  in double slit experiment = λ/d  .............(2)
where d is distance between slits.

from eqn.(1) and (2), we can calculate the slit width a for 20 maximum slit pattern as follows

20×( λ/d ) = 2×(λ/a)   or a = d/10  ...............(3)

d is given as 1 mm. Hence slit width a = 0.1 mm.
