Figure shows the variation of energy E with the orbital radius r of a satellite in a circular motion. Mark the correct statement:

(a) 'A' shows the kinetic energy, 'B' shows the total energy and 'C' the potential energy of the satellite.

(b) 'A' and 'B' are the kinetic energy and potential energy respectively and 'C' the total energy of the satellite.

(c) 'A' and 'B' are the potential energy and the kinetic energy respectively and 'C' the total energy of the satellite.

(d) 'C' and 'A' are the kinetic and potential energies respectively and 'B' the total energy of the satellite.

Answer:
It is obvious from graph,  that graph 'C' is total energy

graph 'A' shows that Energy is maximum when Orbital radius r is small and keep on decreasing with increase in r.
Hence graph 'A' shows Kinetic energy.

graph 'B' shows that energy is highly negative when orbital radius r is small and keep on increasing and approaches zero at greater orbital radius.
This trend is for the variation of potential energy with respect to distane. Hence graph 'B' shows potential energy.

Hence the option (b) is correct answer.
