Every sunday five students, including at least 3 boys and g girls. Hence, we have to make two cases such that 
1) Number of groups having 3 boys and 2 girls = 4C3 8C2 = 2g(g - 1)
2) Number of groups having 4 boys and 1 girl = 4C4 8C1 = g
Hence, number of dolls distributed = g + 2 × 2g(g - 1) = 4g2 - 3g
4g2 - 3g = 85
Solving this quadratic equation you get g = 5
