Let v be the initial projection velocity of the ball from the truck that is moving with speed 14.7 m/s
 
Time taken τ by the ball to reach the truck after travelling up vertcally and then travelling downwards is given as
 
τ = 2 × ( v / g )
 
where g is acceleration due to gravity
 
It is given that ball reaches the same truck after 4 s
 
hence , 2 × ( v / g ) = 4   or  v = 2 × 9.8 m/s = 19.6 m/s
 
hence initial projection velocity of ball as observed by observer on road = begin mathsize 14px style square root of left parenthesis 14.7 right parenthesis squared plus left parenthesis 19.6 right parenthesis squared end root space equals space 24.5 space m divided by s end style
Angle of projection as observed by observer on road = tan-1(19.6/14.7) = 53o with horizontal
