Explain the tension in the string
Asked by Anishkjainacus | 03 Sep, 2018, 08:11: AM
Expert Answer
- 'T' is the tension force acting in a rope in the above diagram.
- When we pull a rope, the rope tends to resist the force of the pull by developing a tension force in the direction opposite to the applied pull.
- In the diagram above, the pull is provided by the two blocks of mass m1 and m2 due to the gravity.
- This downward pull force is opposed by the tension force developed in the rope in the opposite direction.
