Expert Answer
Nose is the organ of smell and breathing.
It has two nostrils separated by a septum.
Behind the nostrils is nasal chamber or nasal cavity.
The nasal cavity connects the nose to the throat.
The sense of smell is located in the epithelial lining of the nasal cavity.
The sense cells present in the lining of the nasal cavity have hair-like projections.
These hair-like projections respond to the particles dissolved in the mucous secretion of the nose.
The impulse from these cells is then transmitted to the brain via olfactory nerve.
