  1. Intensive subsistence agriculture: In this type of agriculture, the size of the land holdings is generally small. Majority of the work is done manually using small and traditional methods of cultivation. The average yields of the crops are low and the farmers are able to produce enough for their family and there is hardly any surplus production.
  2. Extensive commercial agriculture: In this kind of cultivation, the land holdings are large. Farming is highly mechanised and the average yields are high. There is a surplus production and crops are sold in the market.
