CBSE Class 9 Answered
EXPLAIN THE EFFECT OF CHANGE OF PRESSURE ON MATTER?
Asked by Asmita | 16 Aug, 2015, 09:23: PM
Expert Answer
Any change in pressure causes change in the state of matter or certain physical entities associated with it.
If water boils at a certain temperature, then the pressure changes cause this temperature to change itself.
The higher the pressure on water, higher will be the temperature needed to boil it.
At sea level, water boils at 100 °C, but if pressure is increased, water will boil at a temperature higher than 100.
Similar effect is seen for melting point of water.
The same effect can be seen for materials apart from water.
