I assume convection current arises in liquids and gases due to density variation not due to vibration.

when liquid in container is heated,  liquid in lower part of container heated first and its temperature will be more
compare to the temperature of upper part. Hence this temperature difference makes density difference between
upper and lower part.  Lower part of the liquid which is at high temperature has low density, whereas density of
upper part of liquid which is at low temperature is at high density. This density difference makes the upper part of liquid
to move towards downward and the lower part of lighter density liquid to move upper.
This flow of liquid from upper to lower or lower to upper is known as convection current.

Similarly in gas, high temperature region has low density and low temperature region has high density.
Due to this density difference, gas from low temperature region moves towards high temperature to create convection.
