(i) Appreciation of Nature: The study of biology has enabled us to appreciate nature. We begin to wonder about the wide variety of plants and animals that exist on the Earth. It has enabled us to understand the basic unity of all living things in their essential features. The study of biology has appealed to the aesthetic sense of man and provided him with an avenue for recreational activities.

(ii) Conservation of Natural Resources:Biology has helped us to understand the importance of conserving our natural resources. It teaches us the interdependence of plants and animals. The study of biology also encourages us to conserve other natural resources on our planet like coal, petroleum and metal deposits.

(iii) Development of Careers: The growth in the field of biology has provided different careers for students. Careers available to students include becoming a doctor, dentist, pathologist, druggist, bacteriologist, entomologist, teacher, biotechnologist, forester, veterinarian etc.
