Explain any four characteristics of electromagnetic waves.

Hi Harshvardhan,

1. Electromagnetic waves propagate in the form of varying electric and magnetic fields, such that the two fields are perpendicular to each other and also to the direction of propagation of the wave.

2. Electromagnetic waves are produced by accelerated charges.

3. Electromagnetic waves do not require any material medium for their propagation.

4. The electromagnetic waves obey the principle of superposition.

5. In free space, electromagnetic waves travel with a velocity,

    begin mathsize 14px style straight c equals fraction numerator 1 over denominator square root of straight mu subscript 0 straight epsilon subscript 0 end root end fraction equals 3 cross times 10 to the power of 8 space ms to the power of negative 1 end exponent end style
