The primary reference book for CBSE class 12 should always be NCERT textbook. However, as you mentioned the derivations are short and do not explain the concept thoroughly.

So, what you can do is refer some standard books like Pradeep or Modern ABC for derivations and other theoretical aspects. These books are universally used by CBSE students. You can then set your preference as to which book is clearly understandable to you and then go ahead with that book throughout the year.

Also, there are other reference books such as H.C. Verma and Halliday Resnick. But, for board level derivations and stuff you should definitely follow Pradeep of Modern ABC.
