Expert Answer
When a meta is reacted with an acid, it forms a salt and hydrogen gas.
Hence in both cases, Mg metal reacts with acid hence hydrogen gas evolved.
Mg + 2HCl → MgCl2 + H2 ↑
Mg + 2CH3COOH → Mg(CH3COO)2 + H2 ↑
Fizzing will occur more vigorously in test tube A containing HCl.
This happens because HCl is the stronger acid than acetic acid and hence the reaction between magnesium and HCl is faster than that of with acetic acid.
