on Mahavira’s concepts of ‘Karma’ and ‘Rebirth’.

According to Mahavira, an individual’s soul is reborn again and again due to his or her karma (actions). Therefore, the highest goal of an individual’s life is to attain the state of moksha, i.e. freedom from the cycle of birth and rebirth. Mahavira says that moksha can be achieved by following the triratna (three jewels) of Jainism. They are:
- Right knowledge
- Right belief
- Right conduct, which includes the practice of ahimsa and hard penance
